Henrik in New Zealand, September 2001

On the Pacific shore, leaving tomorrow behind me.
(If you look closely, you can almost see the date line out there.)
The Pacific

I was behind schedule - after all, I was a traveller, not a tourist - and considered dropping South Island.
But I hated the idea of sitting on the other side of the planet and regret that I didn't go south.
So using an Internet café and Freedom Air , I booked a flight from Wellington to Christchurch, and another flight
from Christchurch to Auckland. Inexpensive - at least considering the time you save and the cost of trains,
buses, boats, accomodation and wine.

After a pleasant bus ride from Napier to Wellington (passing Norsewood again, and the former Danish settlement Dannevirke),
I booked a room in the middle of the city, with a balcony.

In my modest dwelling at the Wellington West Plaza.
